The entire premises of our Holycross Engineering College celebrates Pongal with much enthusiasm and traditional fervor. With the customary sugarcane, turmeric, flowers, a range of fruits, vegetables, beautiful 'Kolam', specially composed 'Pongal Song', verses, dance and of course, the 'Kummi' — Thamizhar Thirunaal reaches the crescendo even before every January 14.
Teams of girl students will be busy preparing Pongal and making beautiful Kolam. Traditional games such as Uriyadi, Kabaddi, and Tug-of-War are conducted. Winners and runners are awarded. All the events on this day add more color to the celebrations.
